SON OF KICK

Producer, DJ, vocalist and multi instrumentalist Mika abadie aka Son Of Kick is making waves with his electric, super-charged live set.  A bass-feast packed full of electro, dubstep, heavy grooves and the insanely unpredictable.  Catch him dropping acapella’s from The Doors or rocking snippets from the Violent Femmes alongside his own productions and fellow Bass producers bangers.

On a playing field of his own right now Son Of Kick comes right at the cross road of Bass Music.

Based in West London, SOK.’s sound & style has already been picked up by various labels including Leading American Glitch Hop “MUTI Music”, the Stanton Warrior’s own Beat’s, pioneering London imprint Botchit and Scarper. Remix credits include work for labels such Man Recordings (Germany), ESL Music (Washington DC), Civil Music (UK), and Om Records (San Francisco), Atmospehiques (France) or Catskills (UK).

Out early December 2k10 his single “Guacha” on Equinox (Germany) has received major props from Rob Da Bank at Radio 1 through to Emynd (Mad Decent) and smashed air waves and dancefloors across the glob.

The same year he has remixed tracks for musos such as: Bassnectar, Jil Is Lucky, Nfa/Roots Manuva, and Dj Troubl/Foreign Beggars and also has produced tracks for Grems “BrokaBilly” album.

 

In 2011, SOK. has co-produced an album, alongside the French dj/producer Simbad for the new collective project “Klub Sandwich” with Grems & Disiz La Peste (ex-Rouge A Levre).

His solo EP “Playing The Villain” featuring: Machinedrum, Chris De Luca, Jantsen and Bang On!

Out on San Francisco’s best MUTI Music he has reached top 20 on Beatport Dubstep Charts and hit a huge 4.8 million+ views on Youtube.

SOK still managed to create a bevy of remixes for The Go! Team, Husky Rescue, Missill/Spoek Manthambo, Amalia, The Haterz and Tokyo Police Club in between all this madness.

Now there’s also the matter of his first solo album scheduled for summer 2012.

Meanwhile SOK has joined forces with mighty singer JAW of top Deep House band D.O.P for a new project (to be named yet) while banging remix work with Legendary Dj Nonames under their new outfit “Hot Pocket”, Producing tunes for Foreign Beggars and slipping into a new solo outfit called “Rose Ryot”.

2012 will be a huge and busy year for Son Of Kick.

The “From Here” Tour has been a massive success. Now already booked for touring Australia, USA and Europe intensivly including: SXSW or Burning Man to only name those two; the live shows are going to be mental as THE PSM (Drummer for Gorillaz Sound System) will be joining SOK on some of them.

XTRA BACKGROUND

In 2008,two of his remixes (Justin Timberlake “Like I Love You” & Jay-Z “Ignorant Shit”) were hand picked by the fresh NYC bootleg website “Palms Out” to figure on their classic “Remix Sundays” (108 & 109).  He also won the Kotchy “She Made It Easy” remix contest, the year after on “Palms Out Again”.

Son Of Kick was selected in the top twenty talent search for Gilles Peterson’s World Wide Festival and invited to play with the winner Emilie Chick and in the top 5 for “Les Printemps De Bourge”.

Mika has composed music for Channel 4, The Digital Music Awards, The BBC – The Greatest Race On Earth, The L-Word, Vibe 3on3, Sky TV and more.

Over the years he has shared the DJ booth with artists such as Foreign Beggars, Borgore, Barenoize, Ill Gates, Roots Manuva, Scratch Perverts, and Gilles Peterson to name a few.
